A Touch of Brass Handbell
Ringers (2003)
A
Touch of Brass Handbell
Ringers is from Rideau Park United Church. The group represents
one of four bell choirs that practice on a weekly basis
at the church. Community outreach is a major factor in the
life of this group and they voluntarily ring bells in many
different places and events throughout the year. A Touch
of Brass has been
in existence for the past 17 years and accentuates a vital
source of teamwork and music appreciation across the years
represented by the members. Experience in this group reflects
one to 25 years of the love of handbells. With the motto
"Have Bells Will Travel," this group has performed
in Rideau Park on a regular basis, as well as many of the
area churches, senior citizens homes, weddings, rehabilitation
centres, etc.
The
Director for A Touch of Brass, Marcia Gosse,
was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and has conducted handbells
since 1986 at Rideau Park United Church. She is the
director for three handbell choirs: two adult choirs, and
one teen choir. She has been employed with Bell Canada
for the past 26 years and co-ordinates handbells in her
"spare" time.
