2003: Ottawa (Centrepointe Threatre), December 17
In 2003, for the first
time ever, audiences outside of BC got to experience The Magic
of Christmas when it came to Ottawa’s Centrepointe Theatre
on December 17th. The evening’s stellar line-up included
renowned Canadian musical theatre star Michael
Burgess (Jean Valjean of Les Miserables), Inuit pop sensation
Susan Aglukark and beloved
CBC Radio personality Nancy White,
along with special guests Shari
Ulrich, and Howe Sounds
(Monique Creber, Steve
Maddock and David Steele).
Hosted by the Ottawa Valley’s own Wayne
Rostad (of the CBC’s long-running hit series On The
Road Again) and featuring a world-class live band directed by
pianist Michael Creber,
the show also featured the Joan
of Arc Academy Intermediate Choir, Elmwood
School Senior Choir and the Cross
Town Youth Chorus, as well as the silvery tones of the Rideau
Park Touch of Brass Handbell Choir.
To spread the magic beyond
the doors of the theatre, proceeds from the evening were donated
to The Christmas Exchange.
